The season’s image is an ode to poetry and nature and illustrates a poem by Sylvia Plath: I am vertical / But I would rather be horizontal. / I am not a tree with its roots in the soil / Absorbing minerals and maternal love / So that every March I may burst with every leaf, / Nor am I the beauty of a flower bed / Eliciting oohs and aahs, adorned in vivid colours, / Unaware that I will soon lose my petals. / Compared to me, a tree is immortal, / And a flower rather small, but more striking, / And I lack the longevity of one, the daring of the other.
