Stylized expression of a theater
The concept
Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines Theater’s architecture inspired a playful and elegant visual language, consisting of pictograms that reflect certain of the building’s forms. These symbols are simple, easily identifiable and locatable, and are elements of the theater that have been integrated into the communication materials as well as the public space. From the 21-22 season on, the geometric form becomes more organic and renews the visual identity of the Theatre.
The form
The octagonal shape of the Theater’s staircase is the central element for the visuals, such as the logo. It forms the basis of an image alphabet in twenty-six pictograms. This image alphabet is used along with the typographic alphabet, offering many variations when combined. A fluorescent color added to this geometric form enhances the contemporary aspect of the overall design. From the 21-22 season on, the fluorescent color is kept while the geometric shapes are replaced by hand-made shapes. Some of the typography is also created manually.
